Application for non-N/SVQ qualifications to be accepted as evidence for assessor and verifier qualifications A1 and V1

Form AVQ

This application does not give approval to deliver A and V units. To become a centre for the A and V units a separate qualification approval application (Form QAP) must be completed and submitted to your regional/national office. Please note - in order to deliver A and V units, there must be three or more A and V qualified and occupationally competent people in place and a structure to ensure independent assessment of A and V unit candidates.

Candidates may be able to achieve the A and V units using evidence from a non-N/SVQ. This requires the centre to submit this form (Form AVQ) which will be judged on whether or not the proposed qualification mirrors the requirements of an N/SVQ. Centres are advised not to embark on the AVQ approval process unless the assessment strategy for this non N/SVQ requires the achievement of A and V units. It should be noted that if you answer NO to any of the questions 1 5 below, then you should not complete page two or progress any further with the application as it is likely to be declined. A non refundable fee of 200 is applicable for each application. Non-N/SVQ qualification title Yes No

1 Is the non-N/SVQ a recognised qualification certificated by an Awarding Organisation such as City & Guilds? 2 Does the non-N/SVQ require candidates to gather evidence and have their skills and knowledge assessed in the workplace - as opposed to in a training or simulated working environment? 3 Is the non- N/SVQ either competence-based or based on National Occupational Standards? 4 Is the non-N/SVQ subject to internal and external quality assurance or verification and does this process meet the specific requirements of A1.4 and/or V1.4? 5 Does the non-N/SVQ use the same types of assessment methods as those used in an N/SVQ, eg observation, products of performance, questioning, witness statement, reflective account etc?
