How are you?

Any research on internet is useless unless it results in obtaining quality

information.

As I was asked to give a write up describing my Competitive edge in

researching on Internet, I would say the following:
1. In our college, we have 5 subjects in every semester, and for all of
those subjects, in every semester, we have to make either a project,
or a Term Paper. Till the completion of second year, we have 20
subjects in the curricula. And we have to research on internet, for
finding diverse information on the topics.
So, I have a rich experience of searching on internet on diverse
topics, more than any average person.
2. During my Summer Training, I had to work for the firms on a
professional level. So, I learned and practiced effective search
techniques there as part of the projects. Over a long period of time,
I have also acquired knowledge on internet about where can
different things be found on net.
3. Just like in Public Relations, we have various Publics of the
organization which have differing opinion about the organization, I
conduct my research using all those keywords in addition to the
main ones, which can be related to the topic, so that the
information obtained is inclusive of diverse viewpoints from
different sources ensuring no bias in the resulting reports.
4. If I don’t find myself good information on a subject, I have in my
knowledge and contacts, relevant people, (both online and offline)
whose expertise I can leverage to get the required information.
5. If I have to conduct a research on a particular subject, I go to the
extent of leveraging my Social Networks, wherein I either find out
written information on subjects or ask the experts.
6. If the research is over a longer period of time, I subscribe to
newsletters (Like from Yahoo groups) and Alerts (e.g., Google
Alerts) on the respective topics which gives me daily information on
that topic whichever part of the world it comes from.
7. I keep finding new utilities for improving on the search on internet.
Recently, I found www.searchmash.com which is another search
engine by Google and I found it better than others on using. It
gives very relevant results and automatically also gives links on
related links. E.g., If search on Fever, it would give, its causes, its
cure, medicines, types etc. (by itself, as claimed by Google)
All this ensures that there is maximum quality-information available in
minimum time from diverse sources.
