Unsanitary food handling and preparation.

Inability to maintain proper food handling which is conducive for health maintenance and personal development due to: Lack of knowledge of the importance of proper handwashing. Lack or inadequate knowledge on the importance of proper food handling. Lack or inadequate knowledge as to potentially causing health problems. Attitude in life which hinders recognition of a problem.

After using the nursing intervention, the family will be able to know how to preserve the food properly and maintain its nutrition and know how to prevent microorganism that might occur due to improper food handling.

After one (1) day of home visit, the family will demonstrate understanding of the importance of proper food handling. After four (4) days of home visits, the family will perform the health teachings given and will continuously practice proper food handling.

Establish rapport. Assess for the food preparation of the family. Demonstrate and discuss the importance of handling of food. Instruct the family to clean and keep their cooking utensils on their proper places. Instruct the family to wash their hands before and after eating. Assess the hygiene practices of the family. Discuss to the family the importance of proper hand washing. Clean and cut nails regularly.
