SUPER HERO MOVIE NIGHT!

Family Night Activities October 14, 2011 Calendar:

GOD IS ALL-POWERFUL!

This Family Night Activity is very simple but can be very effective. Movies are powerful teachers, and movies with super heroes teach our children a plethora of character traits as they watch their heros stand up for whats right, while defeating the enemy. Tonight we will use a movie to help your children begin to understand that God is the ultimate Super Hero!

Preparation:
Choose a super hero movie you know your kids will love. The following discussion questions will work for any movie that has a positive super hero who defeats the enemy. Prepare movie snack food.

Getting started: LightsCameraAction!

Watch the movie and enjoy the snacks.

Talk about it:

After the movie, take a few minutes to talk about the following questions: What was the super heros greatest strength? What was the super heros greatest weakness? Were you ever afraid the super hero might not win? Why/why not? God is the best super hero EVER! Actually, Hes better than a super hero! What makes Him even better than the best super hero? God has no weaknesses. No one can defeat HimEVERnot even once.

Bringing it to a close:
Read the following verses from the Bible. Job is talking about the power of God: God stretches the northern sky over empty space and hangs the earth on nothing, (vs. 7). He created the horizon when He separated the waters; He set the boundary between day and night. The foundations of heaven tremble; they shudder at His rebuke. By His power the sea grew calm. By His skill He crushed the great sea monster, (vss. 10-12). These are just the beginning of all that He does, merely a whisper of His power. Who then can comprehend the thunder of His power? (vs. 14). Job 26:7, 10-12 & 14, NLT. Thank God for the comfort in knowing that no person and no thing is stronger than Him! 1
