Indications Acute pain

Contraindications Allergies to sulfonamides, celecoxib, NSAIDs, or aspirin; renal impairment. Use cautiously with hepatic conditions

Side effects/adverse effects CNS: headache, dizziness, somnolence, insomnia DERMA: rash GI: dyspepsia Anaphylactic shock

Nursing Responsibilities Administer with food if GI upset occurs Assess pain level, cease without pain Teach the patient that he may experience: Dizziness and drowsiness Teach the patient to report sore throat,fever, rash, itching, weight gain, swelling in ankles or fingers and changes in vision. Advice the patient that taking of the drug may produce yellow-colored urine. Instruct the patient that the drug may be taken with or without food (May be taken with meals for better absorption or if GI discomfort occurs). Assess patient for signs of vitamin deficiency before and periodically throughout therapy. Assess nutritional status through 24 hour diet recall. Determine frequency of consumption of vitamin rich foods. discontinue if hypersensitivity occurs administer with food
