MEANING OF LABOR LAW


Labour law (is also called

employment law) is the body of


laws, administrative rulings, and precedents which address the legal rights of, and restrictions on, working people and their organizations.

OBJECTIVES OF LABOR LAW


Social Justice :

Equal distribution of profits and other industrial benefits between Owner and Workers . Providing protection to Workers against harmful effects to health, safety and morality.

Social Equity: labor laws must be dynamic; government must modify the laws in line with changing environment.

International Uniformity.

Industrial laws are those laws which are primarily

established to maintain the relationship among the people in the organization. They are: Employer Vs Employer. Employee Vs Employee. Employer Vs Employee.

Origin of Industrial Laws in India


The employers tried to restrict the

powers of workers organizations


and keep labor costs low.

wages or better working conditions.
