The document discusses removing Congo Red dye from an aqueous solution using various adsorbents. It notes that over 7 million tons of dyes are produced annually, which can damage ecological systems if released into water bodies. While industries use methods like oxidation and flocculation to treat effluents, adsorption provides an attractive alternative if the adsorbent is inexpensive. The study analyzed removing Congo Red dye using different low-cost adsorbents produced in a laboratory, finding they could efficiently adsorb the dye from solution.

Topic: CONGO RED (CR) REMOVAL FROM AQUEOUS SOLUTION BY COMMERCIAL AND LABORATORY PREPARED LOW COST ADSORBENTS
USING ADSORPTION Speaker: GHANSHYAM BARMAN (608CH104) Date and time:
The above specided seminar was based on the Adsorption of Congo red Dye from aqueous solution. Approximately 10,000 different dyes and pigments are used by industries and about 7x105 tons of dyes are annually produced worldwide.these dyes in effluents causes disturbance to ecological system of receiving waters which may cause organ damage, mutagenic or carcinogenic response in mammals due to which it has to removed frrom the effleunt before discharging it to water body.In industry many methods were adopted to treat it like oxidation, flocculation ,adsorption etc.But adsorption provides an attractive alternative treatment, especially if the adsorbent is inexpensive and readily available. In above study Congo Red dye was studied on diffrent type of adsorbents. The experimental data were analyzed using the statistical software, Minitab 13.4 .From the experimental data it was shown that the congo red dye was adsorbed on laboratory produced low cost asorbents efficiently.
