Harker JV Polo Report #7 Santa Clara This has been a difficult week for me as a coach.

There are things that we do very well in practiceand then things we do poorly. I have felt very frustrated watching us practice, especially while scrimmaging. It was obvious that the team needs some changes after the game. A Team grade: B+. This was a very nice effort from the entire team. I loved how everybody stepped up their game with the absence of three members. For the most part, you did the three things required: 1. Hips up, 2. Defensive position, 3. See the ball. There were lapses but all in all it was excellent. Keeping the ball in sight at all times is a new concept (for me as well) and that was probably the biggest improvement. There was a lot of hustling and helping, especially on defense. On the six on five we got into formation quickly and looked like we knew what was going on. On the first one that didnt score we made nice sharp passes. Albert and Allen did an excellent job of moving the goalie. On the second one that did score, Alex did a nice job of being aware of the situation and shooting quickly. In the last quarter, we shot quickly and scored. We were able to get the ball to our best player and gave Jeremy an opportunity to win. That is all you can ask for as a team. This time we didnt get the victory; next time we will. B Team grade: C-. (This is a gift grade. It should be lower). I am not going to use this forum as a dressing down. The team behavior during warm-ups and during the game was embarrassing. I was embarrassed for myself and Harker. It was unacceptable and will stop. In the pool, it was ok. You kept your hips up and looked to pass downline. The passing was much better. Id like to see more releasing on offense. On defense I felt we were timid. We didnt communicate and call out who you were covering. Part of the problem was because it was close, we got nervous and choked (B teamnot the A). Individual Highlights: Sina did a nice job of shooting high corners, Albert did a great job of hustling on defense, and counter attacking on offense. Allen got majored out and did a great job on six on five passing. Alex did great in set and Allen did a good job of 2 Meter D against a very good player. Brian did a great job in the cage, especially on his passing. For the B team, Sidd was aggressive at 2M D and caused a double kickout. Jeremy, Sina, Harry, Albert and Alex all scored (did I miss anyone?)
