STOCKHOLM'S SUBWAY

SYSTEM
The Stockholm subway is considered the longest art gallery
in the world. It has 3 main lines (the blue, red and green) a
tour oI nearly 110 km long and 100 stations oI which 47 are
underground and 53 surIace.
ll stations have a unique decor and ambiance. The
natural bedrock has been used at several stations, as
the raw material and is used as part oI the decoration
oI various shapes and creative expressions oI art.
From Iresh to carved stone statues, metals, inlays oI
diIIerent materials and multiIarious paintings, bright
colors.
In Rissne station, a Iresh inIormation on the walls tells
the story oI Earth's civilizations along the platIorm.
The paintings were created with the message oI welcome
to the world, where Swedish artist Helga Henschen would
Iill the cave with the story oI liIe with birds, animals,
Ilowers, men and women.
The Iirst subway line opened in Stockholm in 1950,
thereaIter, all stations incorporated art, yes, always trying
the work be integrated into the environment.
In the many stations you can Iind works by nearly 150
artists.
In many oI its stations one can Iind solid rock, it's like
getting back into the Stone ge but in the XXI century.
