ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

The present study provided the opportunity to understand and appreciate the
contributions of the biogas repairing and maintenance Programme and hand pump
repairing programme towards the empowerment of women. It also gave an insight into
the factors limiting the participation of women in the above two programmes and
understand the inner dynamics of the process of social change. I would like to thank Agha
Khan Rural Support Programme (I) for giving me the opportunity to conduct the study.

I would also like to thank our Organizational traineeship segment coordinator, Prof.
Jayant Negi for his efforts and support and Prof. Smita Mishra Panda, the faculty guide
for her guidance and valuable inputs to the study.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the CEO, Apoorba Oza, AKRSP (I), for
providing me with the required support and guidance throughout the project. I am also
thankful to my reporting officer, Mr. Niraj Joshi (R& M) for providing me with required
data and guidance. I would also like to thank Mr. Ajay Mishra (R&M), and the entire
AKRSP (I) staff for the support they provided me throughout my stay in the organization.
I am also very thankful to Sunil bhai, Thakrsih bhai, Ashok bhai and Archana ben for
helping me during the field visits.

The present acknowledgements would be incomplete without thanking the staffs of the
four clusters of Netrang Spear head team, women involved in the two programmes and
the villagers of the surveyed villages for their valuable time and inputs for conducting the
study.
