Abstract Synthesis of geopolymer by varying SiO2/Al2O3 mol ratio and immobilization behavior of geopolymer with contaminant Pb(II) in the form of nitrate salts have been carried out. Synthesis carried out using various SiO2/Al2O3 mol ratio with the addition of Al(OH)3, and the ratio of solid / liquid is 1,96. The highest compressive strength obtained at mol ratio of SiO2/Al2O3 = 3,75 was about 44,400 x103kN/m2 and the lowest at SiO2/Al2O3= 2,50 mol ratio was about 6,423 x103 kN/m2. The behavior of heavy metal immobilization observed in geopolymer with SiO2/Al2O3 = 3,75 mole ratio and SiO2/Al2O3 = 2,50 with the addition of Pb(NO3)2. The effectiveness of immobilization of heavy metals was tested with leaching process under acid condition with acetic acid at pH 3 and immobilization strength determined from the amount of heavy metals in leachate solution will be determined by ICP-OES. Phase development study by XRD showed that the mole ratio SiO2/Al2O3 = 3,75 have amorphous phase with quartz and mullite as major minerals, whereas the mole ratio of SiO2/Al2O3 = 2,50 has main gibbsite mineral. Morphological studies by SEM showed that the granules structure formed on SiO2/Al2O3 = 2,50 mol ratio, while the structure is more homogeneous and compact form on SiO2/Al2O3 = 3,75 mol ratio. Heavy metal Pb was immobilized by both the

geopolymer with SiO2/Al2O3 mole ratio = 3.75 as indicated by the results of leaching fewer.
