shells do not stand by theaselves, but ate to be incorporated into and used
together vith che European Recommendations for Steel Construction published by
the ECCS in 1978, In several clauses of K 4.6, TWC 8.4 introduced a partial
safety factor in order co cake ince account the high iaperfection seneieivity
of shells under certain conditions.
Technical Working Croup 8.4 vas not responsible for the determination of the
general load factors tobe used in the load combinations ubich shell structures

SHELLS" and the consents vere prepared by TWO 8.4 "Stability of Shells” and
ete approved on October 1, 1982 by ECCS Technical Committee 8 "Structural
Stability" during its meeting in Paris. A few notations are changed into
those adopted by Technical Committee & for general use.
