LIPORS System Summary

The Library Item Academic Purchase Order Request System (LIPORS) is an

information system used to order items for academic staff within the University
Campus’ Library.

LIPORS has been in place for approximately 10 years.

An academic sends a request (via paper or email) to the LLO, who

authorizes the requests. Authorization per request varies due to other
extenuating circumstances such as faculty account balance and employee work
load.
Paper requests are not stored within the system and are discarded. If
authorization for a request is denied, there are no notification procedures in place
to inform the academic of the request failure.
Up to 10 items can be requested in one transaction but there are financial
restraints that may limit the amount of items being purchased (such as
insufficient faculty account balance). Requesting multiple copies of the same title
is generally denied. Special circumstances (such as one copy per campus) for
multiple copies are examined by the LLO and can be granted at the LLO’s
discretion.
LIPORS is currently part of a larger request system based in the United
States and is also maintained there.
