A sower went out to sow some seeds but the seeds fell on different soils. Some seeds fell beside the road and the birds came to eat it up. But the seeds that fell on good soil yielded a crop and produced thirty, sixty, and a hundred fold. This is what the parable means. The seed is the word of God.

A sower went out to sow some seeds but the seeds fell on different soils. Some seeds fell beside the road and the birds came to ate it up. The second seed fell on the ground full of rocks which did not have much soil and at once it sprung up. But because it had no depth of soil, it was scorched when the sun came up, and because it had not taken root, it withered away. The third seed fell among thons, and the thorns came up and choked it, and it yielded no crop. For the other seeds, they fell into good soil and as they grew and increased, they yielded a crop and produced thirty, sixty, and a hundred fold. This is what the parable means. The seed is the word of God. The seeds fell along the path stand for those who hear, but the devil comes and takes the message away from their hearts in order to keep them from believing and being saved. The seeds that fell on rocky ground stand for those who hear the message and receive it gladly. But it does not sink deep into them; they believe only for a while. But when the time of testing comes, they fall away. The seeds fell among thorn branches stand for those who hear, but the worries and riches and pleasures of their life crowd in and choked them, and their fruit never ripens. The seed that fell in good soil stand for those who hear the message and retain in a good and obedient heart, and they persist until they bear fruit.
