Robert Louis Stevenson

Born November 13,1850 in Edinburgh , Scotland. Started writing stories at a young age, and his father paid for his first publication at the age of sixteen. Studied engineering at the University of Edinburgh. But showed no interest in the studies. Married in May 1880 to Fanny Vandergrift Osbourne, had 3 Children from a previous marriage. In 1883 would publish Treasure Island, his first successful novel. Followed by notable novels A Childs Garden of Verses, Kidnapped, Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Died on December 3, 1894 while working on one of his final novel the Weir of Hermiston.

Action/Adventure
Adventure genre is applied to works/ novels in which the Protagonist and/or other major characters are repeatedly thrown into dangerous predicaments/situations.(Usually when traveling to distant lands to accomplish a goal/task). Young Adult is applied to works/novels in which the protagonist is usually portrayed as an adolescent, and the challenges of youth, coming of age as its central theme. Adventure genre tends to cross over numerous of genres due to it being a very open genre: Military/War, Fantasy, Science Fiction, Romance, Young Adult, Thriller, Mystery.

Plot Overview
Jim Hawkins finds a map in a sea chest that belonged to one of his parents guest in their inn. Believes that contents on the map is valuable he takes the map to his friends( Dr. Livesey and Squire Trelawney), and realizes that it a map to buried treasure that was left by the dead infamous Captain Flint. They are tricked into hiring some of untrustworthy pirates that were part of Flints crew to help on the voyage. Most notably Long John Silver. The pirates rebelled against the crew of Hawkins and Livesey. Jim Hawkins finds Ben Gunn (HalfCrazed) in the woods of Treasure Island. Hawkins discovers that the crew of Livesey had gave Long John Silver, the treasure map in spare of his life. Long John Silver is having trouble control his man and devises a plan to take Hawkins as hostage (as a sign of power), and lead them to the treasure to some way appease them. When they get to the location site, there is no treasure and they are ambushed by the crew of Livesey. Afterwards, the crew of Hawkins and Livesey is led to the treasure where Ben Gunn had hid it months before.
