Update on the emergency situation affecting Northampton. The State of Emergency remains in effect. National Grid reports that power had been restored to over 80% of Northampton customers and it has doubled its work crews this afternoon to address remaining neighborhoods still without power. Significant power restoration is expected by this evening, however 100% restoration may not be complete today. While this is an improving situation, significant hazards including live downed electrical wires remain through many areas of the City. All lines should be considered live and avoided.
