Cefalexin
N: Treatment of susceptible infections of biliary,
resp, urinary tract & skin.

Chloramphenicol
N: Salmonella infections, shigellosis, rickettsial
infection, meningitis, brain abscess & pulmonary
infections, which do not respond to standard
antimicrobial agents.

P: Ped susp 125 mg/5 mL x 60 mL
Cloxacillin
N: Staph infections including skin & soft tissue,
bone & joint, resp & UTI; otitis media,
endocarditis, septicemia, meningitis. Mixed strep
infections. Prophylaxis of Staph infections during
surgery eg cardiothoracic & orthopedic.
D: 50-100 mg/kg/d q 6 hrs
P: 250 mg for oral solution
Co-Amoxiclav
N: Treatment of variety of susceptible infections
eg actinomycosis, biliary tract infections,
bronchitis, endocarditis (prophylaxis),
gastroenteritis (eg Salmonella enteritis),
gonorrhea, Lyme disease, mouth infections, otitis
media, pneumonia, spleen disorders
(pneumococcal infection prophylaxis), typhoid &
paratyphoid fever & UTI. Helicobacter pylori
infection in patients w/ peptic ulcer.
D:40 mg/kg/d q 8 hrs

Cotrimoxazole
N: Resp tract, renal, GIT, GUT. Osteomyelitis,
pneumocystis carinii pneumonia, toxoplasmosis,
actinomycetoma, acute brucellosis, nocardiosis,
South American blastomycosis.
D: 40 mg SMX & 8 mg TMP/kg/d q 12 hrs
P:200 mg SMX/40 mg TMP/5 mL
Diphenhydramine
N: Hay fever, urticaria, vasomotor rhinitis,
angioneurotic edema, drug sensitization, serum
& penicillin reaction, contact dermatitis, atopic
eczema, other allergic dermatoses, pruritus, food
sensitivity, parkinsonism, motion sickness.
D: 5 mg/kg/d q 6 hrs

Erythromycin
N: Upper & lower resp tract, skin & soft tissue
infection of mild to moderate severity, other
infections caused by organisms susceptible to
erythromycin.
D: 30 mg-50 mg/kg/day div q 8 hr PO

Hydroxyzine
N: Symptomatic treatment of anxiety;
symptomatic treatment of pruritus of allergic

N: Clinical manifestations of urate/uric acid
deposition eg idiopathic gout, gouty
arthritis, skin tophi &/or renal involvement.
Management of urate renal stones related
to deficient activity of certain metabolic
enzymes. Management of recurrent mixed
Ca oxalate phosphate renal stones in the
presence of hyperuricosuria, when fluid,
dietary & similar measures have failed.
D: Mild:100-200 mg daily. Moderately
severe: 300-600 mg daily.

Diclofenac
N: Inflammatory & degenerative forms of
rheumatism, RA, ankylosing spondylitis,
osteoarthritis, non-articular rheumatism. Acute
attack of gout. Renal & biliary colic. Painful
post-op inflammation & swelling-like dental &
orthopedic surgery. Primary dysmenorrhea.
D: Tab Initially, 100-150 mg. Long-term &
milder cases 75-100 mg divided in 2-3
fractional doses.

Ibuprofen and Paracetamol
N: Relief of mild to moderately severe pain of
musculoskeletal origin eg myalgia, arthritis,
rheumatism, sprain, strain, bursitis, tendonitis,
backache, stiff neck, tension headache,
dysmenorrhea, toothache, pain after tooth
extraction & minor surgical operations,
reduction of fever.
D: 1 tab 6 hrly.

Ambroxol
N: Resp tract diseases associated w/ abnormal
bronchial secretions, particularly in
exacerbations of asthmatic bronchitis & chronic
bronchitis, bronchial asthma; pre- & post-op
treatment. Amp Esp suitable for the prevention of
pulmonary complications in intensive medicine.
