Health Sector workforce development initiative to train 100 Enrolled Nurses between Healthscope and TAFE NSW Northern

Sydney Institute. A new partnership has formed between TAFE NSW Northern Sydney Institute (as lead Institute) and private healthcare company, Healthscope, to train 100 Enrolled Nurses and undertake their clinical placements in Healthscope hospitals across NSW. Elizabeth Webb Associate Director - Community Services and Health TAFE NSW Northern Sydney Institute said This exciting initiative will train approximately 100 enrolled Nurses and help to meet urgent workforce needs in Metropolitan and NSW Regional Hospitals. The outcome has been made possible by close collaboration with 4 other TAFE Institutes, Sydney, South Western Sydney, Hunter and Western Sydney. Healthscope operates 12 hospitals in metropolitan and regional NSW with over 1200 acute, medical & surgical, psychiatric and rehabilitation beds. TAFE NSW, Manager Client Relations Dennis Owen said: The enrolled nurse project in a major workforce development initiative within the Health sector and involves clinical placement in Healthscope facilities across NSW. Mr Stephen Gameren, Healthscope Hospitals NSW State Manager said: Healthscope looks forward to working with TAFE NSW in graduate nurse development. This partnership will allow us to develop a sustainable and well supported workforce for our hospitals and patients. We see this as an important first step to developing new and specialist training partnerships across our business nationally and are delighted to deliver these plans so quickly. Healthscope is a major provider of private healthcare services with 44 hospitals nationally treating over 500,000 inpatients each year. Healthscope is also a provider of private pathology services nationally and internationally, and operates medical centres and specialised skin clinics across Australia.
