The first of the cultural nights Mehfil was held today (21st Oct.) at the Golden Jubilee Auditorium.

The event was inaugurated by Dr. P. K Barhai, Dr A.K Chatterjee and Dr. A.K Sinha. The BIT prayer song was sung and the event began by the auspicious lighting of a lamp. It featured exciting performances of the Music Club and the Dramatics Society of BIT. The dramatics society held events like a musical which was a parody of Harry Potter. It was followed by a mime which reflected how something can be conveyed to the audience by just action. The prelim round for BITs got talent which had been held previously, featured enthralling performances which entertained the crowd. This was followed by KAVI SAMMELLAN which brought together the best poets and writers of BIT. Their literary works brought the crowd to their feet. In the events conducted by the music club talented singers sang some of the top Bollywood numbers such as BAHARA, HALE E DIL, RABBA MEIN TO MAR GAYA, etc. SUR SAMRAT was then held in three rounds, eliminating more than participants. The first round was normal singing followed by Karaoke and live orchestra (headed by Mukul Das). This was followed by a tribute to the late JAGJEET SINGH. The performances were judged on sur taal, voice quality and stage presence. For food and beverages stalls were set up by students and vendors which included some of our premier sponsors like Hotel Accord, Dominoes, Rollicks, Bruberry , Tropic and Snow, MTS. Anyone who enjoys Bollywood music or poetry would have had a fun time tonight.
