Past Perfect Crime Instructions

Stage One: Present crime scene to Ss. Ss should deduce the crime scene from these word prompts: John Flitz 9p.m. country house dinner 6 guests midnight shots heard Flitz's body discover Stage Two: Guests at the dinner are being interrogated by 2 inspectors. In pairs Ss complete the worksheets (A and B). These are the guests' testimonies for each inspector. Stage Three: Once the worksheets are completed, tell Ss that 4 of the guests plotted the murder. Those 4 guests have testimonies that contradict one another. Ss compare there testimonies and look for differences (in meaning). They will discover who is lying in their testimony and is likely to have plotted the murder. Stage Four: Each pair then tells the teacher which 4 guests had conflicting stories. Teacher writes these guests' names on the board. Ss must say why they made their decisions.
