,tt. 23:37, O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are
sent unto thee, how oIten would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth
her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!

Earthly 1erusalem was the city that killed the prophets, and as a result it w doomed for
judgment. 1esus spoke of the days of vengeance that were coming. Cod would avenge the
blood of his servants the prophets.

THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.

Rev.18:24, And in her was Iound the blood oI prophets, and oI saints, and oI all that were slain
upon the earth.

Cod avenged the blood of his apostles and prophets by judging Babylon, the great city where
our Lord was crucified, spiritually called Sodom and Egypt.

Rev.18:20

Rejoice over her, thou heaven, and ye holy apostles and prophets; Ior God hath avenged you on
her.

Reve,tion 11:8

And their dead bodies shall lie in the street oI the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom
and Egypt, where also our Lord was cruciIied.

1.And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: Ior the Iirst heaven and the Iirst earth were passed

In other words, Cod puts away the old city because of harlotry, unfaithfulness, and murder
and marries the new city. 1he book of Revelation is really a tale of two cities, the earthly and
the heavenly.
