The Visit

A friend stopped by, since time had passed smiled and said hello.
He matured in all respects, and inches he had grown.
He said, “Fine to see you on this day, it’s been, oh, quite some time.”
We talked for hours over tea and through the old clock’s chime. Shoes
slipped off and by the fire we rambled on and on, recounting all the good
times, and where those days had gone. Morning brought the day to close as
stars fell from our view.
“I’ve enjoyed this talk we shared, I know that you did too. Do stop by,
and make it soon, you’re an easy one to miss. Tell your dad I said hello, give
your mom a kiss.” “Great to see you,” he said, as he winked his eye and
walked to the door. “Good-bye my friend, and God bless you, I’ll have to
stop by more.”
