ENDURING WITH FAITH

Oh...there’s dust on those knick knacks!

Sitting at the table I hear the clock tick.

Thinking of tine, thinking of the past, it makes me sick.

Goose—girl on the wall with candles at her sides,

And ceiling fans draw up my smoke hanging in her eyes.

The Uog at my feet lies faithfully still.

She comes on command for I am her master.

The arrangement of roses stands tall in a vase;

I don’t smell them. Their odor is lost,

But the dust covered knick knacks send off a gloom;

That irks the one who has charge of the room.

The few hanging plants that paint the room pink

Dress up the window graced by the sun.

The rest of the house is grey,

And old pipes color the water.

Thank goodness there aren’t any bugs!

Even the mice don’t find any fun

Poking through the overflowed ashtrays.

The dirt, the grime, and the filth that I see,

The dust on the knick knacks, and all that’s unpleasant;

Sometimes I’ve lost; some I’ve won.

I’m here all by myself,

Yet I feel that Jesus is always so near,

Increasing my faith with each passing year.
