OBITUARIES
Gladys A. Joost Gladys A. Fittje Joost, 85, of Sherwood, Ohio, died Sunday, November 13, 2011 at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice, Defiance. She was born on June 22, 1926 in Humphrey, Nebraska, the daughter of August and Margaret Fittje. On April 15, 1945, she was united in marriage to Lorenz H. Joost. He preceded her in death on November 22, 2007. Gladys was a homemaker. Gladys was a member of St John Lutheran Church, Sherwood. She loved Jesus and had great faith. She loved flowers, birds and people. She is survived by a son-Larry (Sandy) Joost; (10) grandchildrenShawn (Carol) Joost, Kari Joost, Kori Joost, Lynnette (Kenneth) Siegel, Jamie (Greg) Smith, James Joost Jr., Ross Joost, Bo Joost, Maggie (Chris) Polley, Robbie Davis; (10) great grandchildren; two sisters-Mildred Liss and Elaine (Dick) Elston. She was preceded in death by a son James Joost, a daughter Jean Davis and a brother Donald Fittje. Funeral services for Gladys will be Tuesday at 2:00 at St. John Lutheran Church, Sherwood, Ohio with one hour visitation prior. Pastor Mark DeLassus will officiate. Visitation will also be Monday from 2:00-4:00 and 5:00-8:00 at Smith & Brown Funeral Home, Hicksville, Ohio. Burial will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Sherwood, Ohio. Memorials may be made to the church or Community Health Professional Inpatient Hospice or the donors choice.

The 1946 Farmer, Ohio Tigers basketball team won the Class B State Championship. Their 4 year record was 100 wins and 4 losses. The high school had a total of 33 boys.
