Home Exercise Program


(stretches 2-3 x/day, strengthening 1x/day)

Gastroc Stretch - Stand with your right leg behind your left, toes pointing straight ahead. Keeping your heel on the ground and knee straight, lunge onto your left leg. You should feel a stretch in the back of your calf. Hold 30 seconds.

Beginning Figure 4 - Lie on your back with your knees bent. Cross your right ankle over your left knee. Using your right hand, push your right knee away from you. Hold 30 seconds. Repeat 3 times on each side. If this is too easy for you, progress to the Figure 4 (below).

Figure 4 - Lie on your back with your knees bent. Cross your right ankle over your left knee. Using your hands, push your right knee away from you. To increase this stretch, pull your left leg toward you using your hands. To further increase this stretch, use your elbow to push your knee away from you. Hold 30 seconds. Repeat 3 times on each side.
