Syed is not the typical stereotype of his ethnicity due to his gay relationship with a white man. Also how he went by himself to create a business and support what he thought was right in society no matter what religion you are.

Leonard is not your typical American, due to being very smart and intelligent. As well as not being the stereotypical over weight American that most of the worldwide population think they are.
