Before they even came,
We already had a name.
Headed by a datu or chief
Balangay is where we meet and greet.
With three social classes on the line
The datu and nobles were worshipped sublime.
The freeman who complies with paying tax
And lastly there are the slaves who are considered last.
Since we are rich in resources and stones,
A well structured livelihood was sure to be formed.
A stable economy was later met
But an unexpected guest is about to fret.

The Spaniards came with all their might
To conquer us and to start a fight
Accumulation of wealth was on their mind
They'd do anything, even if it means to hurt mankind.
The Encomienda System they introduced
Resulted to widespread maltreatment and abuse
Due to forced labor they're working until dawn
The Filipinos are tired. Spaniards now be gone.
With the Spaniards, our economy was moving slow.
Three hundred years is enough. Please let us go.
Your huge impacts in our culture is an inheritance
All we can give you is our remarkable resilience.
Great destruction plagued the country
After the American-Spanish war bore infantry.
Rehabilitation, the promise of the new administration
But the most important was the gift of education.
Jwnership of lands for the poor farmers,
An epic fail and one of the unfulfilled charters
Unjust ordinances soon arose
But industrialization stood out the most.
And when they thought we can stand on our own,
We got our independence and rose back to throne.
But the problems didn't stop here
The burden was carried on to the President's fear.
Written above is a brief summary
Jf what the Filipinos have been through.
The ups and downs of the economy
In our country - where different colonizers flew.
