Angel Falls (Spanish: Salto Angel; Pemon language: Kerepakupai Jena, meaning "waterIall oI
the deepest place", or Parakupa Jena, meaning "the Iall Irom the highest point") is a waterIall in
Venezuela.
It is the world's highest waterIall, with a height oI 979 m (3,212 It) and a plunge oI 807 m
(2,648 It). The waterIall drops over the edge oI the Auyantepui mountain in the Canaima
National Park (Spanish: Parque Nacional Canaima), a UNESCO World Heritage site in the Gran
Sabana region oI Bolivar State
The height Iigure 979 m (3,212 It) mostly consists oI the main plunge but also includes about
400 m (0.25 mi) oI sloped cascades and rapids below the drop and a 30 m (98 It) high plunge
downstream oI the talus rapids. While the main plunge is undoubtedly the highest single drop in
the world, some Ieel that including the lower cascades stretches the criteria Ior the measurement
oI waterIalls somewhat, although there are no universally recognized standards oI the subject.
