    Overfluxing occurs when there is an excessively high flux in a transformer due to abnormally high voltages or low frequencies. This can damage the transformer's core due to magnetic saturation. Protective devices like overcurrent and differential relays may not operate quickly enough for an overfluxing condition. Special overfluxing relays are used to detect excessive flux levels and promptly isolate transformers to prevent damage during overfluxing events.
