INTRODUCTION

The growing and the dynamic business environment of today is faced with lots of challenges and opportunities. The dependence on the information, as a driving energy source is increasing. The business needs today stretch beyond the transaction processing, requiring an instant real time response wherever it occurs. The word Enterprise conveys that it encompasses the larger business community covering all the players and their participation in the business. The system has extended beyond corporate boundaries and the system that is being designed is an enterprise wide. The business today is a paperless operation, a wireless communication as a result of fully transparent and automated operations at all centers in an integrated and coordinated manner taking care of the business, actions and decision needs. And these demands of the business are met by systems of information processing and communication. Though the tools and technologies, and the solutions for these needs are available but what is required is an integrated solution out of these technologies and the systems offering an enterprise. Such an integrated solution is called Enterprise Management System (EMS). In EMS, the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system plays a very important role. The major decision making and it execution is done through ERP. Its the system of managing all functions of the business with information support coming through the ERP. It handles the operational systems to run business and provides the required inputs to planning and control systems handled by the middle management..

ENTERPRISE RESOURCE PLANNING:

Enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems integrate internal and external management information across an entire organization, embracing finance/accounting, manufacturing, sales and service, customer relationship management, etc. ERP systems automate this activity with an integrated software application. Their purpose is to facilitate the flow of information between all business functions inside the boundaries of the organization and manage the connections to outside stakeholders. The Enterprise planning system (ERP) deals with the planning and use of resources used in the business. The resources are finance, materials, manufacturing capacity and human resource. The ERP provides methodology of assessing the resource needs for a given business plan to achieve certain business objectives. It also helps to execute the strategies, plans, decisions and actions in a time bound manner. The ERP provides a support system in transaction processing, updating, and reporting across the functions. The initials ERP originated as an extension of MRP (material requirements planning then manufacturing resource planning). ERP systems now attempt to cover all basic functions of an enterprise, regardless of the organization's business or charter. Non-manufacturing businesses, non-profit organizations and governments now all utilize ERP systems.

HARDWARE OF ERP:
Network Computers Work Stations Power

NETWORK.
Sometimes hundreds of files per workstation may be open on the server. For ERP systems such as Sage Pro with the VFP back end, queries against the database will result in massive network traffic back to temp files on the workstation. Therefore it is important to make sure the network is reliable and as high performance as can be feasible for the end user. As of 2011, 1 gigabit network cards are standard and inexpensive, so it is important to have that kind of network card on each workstation. Always use a switch rather than a hub, so that traffic can take place on multiple ports in parallel. Be sure to read online reviews of the switch, there are some bad apples out there which fail after 3 months. Use Cat 5 cabling, and if at all possible, have a professional cabling company certify the cable plant with a cable tester. That will rule out problem cables as a cause of network glitches before they actually affect operation. It is generally a good idea to keep

the ERP system on its own network segment if possible so that traffic from other users doesnt interfere.

COMPUTERS:
The ERP server may be on the same server as the domain controller. But its a higher performance option to put the application on a separate server if this is feasible (affordable). High performance, high throughput disk drives should be used on the server. It is now practical to put solid state drives on the server since the cost per gigabyte has gone down in the last year. This eliminates seek time since there are no moving parts. (All the data is stored in a silicon device much like ram, except that it keeps its state during a power cycle operation. The number of processors is less important on the application server since many databases can not take advantage of more than one processor. Later versions of Microsoft SQL Server can take advantage of more than one processor core but check the specs before spending lots of money on processor cores. Ram is crucial for good performance on the application server. Take the ERP vendors minimum recommended ram and double it at least. Make sure the network card is gigabit or faster.

WORK STATIONS:
The ERP workstation is often the weakest link in an ERP system, but it is not expensive to get it up to a reasonable performing system. It should have 4 GB of Ram, XP Pro or later, MS Office 2007 or later, (Almost all ERP systems will use Excel and most use Word as a back end for data output), a gigabit network card, and a high performance video controller. The video controller performance is helpful because most ERP systems use a lot of windows operations and the faster the window can be painted, the faster overall response will be.

POWER: It drives that may be in use with the ERP system. Notebook computers dont need a is easy to forget to insure against power failures, but they happen more frequently now than in past years as the US power infrastructure is starting to show signs of age and over utilization. Lightning and construction are also factors that affect power. Be sure to use a reliable UPS system on the servers, the workstations, the switches, the backup/restore device and any external UPS since they have a battery. Monitors dont need a backup to protect against power glitches, and printers and copiers should not be attached to a UPS since they draw a lot of power and normally, you can reprint anything that failed to print because of an outage or glitch.

COST OF ERP SYSTEM:

In order to achieve a business edge, companies are increasingly spending more money on their Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) investments. Research firms such as AMR Research and Gartner are predicting that companies will continue to invest in ERP over the next five years, resulting in an average market growth of 10%. From 2009 to 2010 alone, the ERP market grew from $29.4 billion to nearly $33 billion, according to AMR..

FUCTIONS OF ERP:
1. With ERP , business can better control over its billing to customers and receivables. With the ability to automate processes. It provides better operational, financial and accounting control over its billing operations and receivables. 2. ERP system can be used for accomplish every task by integrating the information system , seamless flow of information across every department . It is helpful to make automation of every business process .

3. Because ERP works on IT's basic rules 'input -process-output ' , So it is also using as management information system (MIS ) . 4. ERP treats the organisation as single entity and caters to the information needs of the whole organisation because information is the key resource of every organisation to win the competition . ERP system provides accurate , relevant and timeliness information to all department on one software system . 5. Main function of ERP system and softwares is to provide information updated and on real time . 6. In ERP , you can get answer of any query by its powerful query and filtering facility . 7. Now advance ERP softwares packages are providing the facility to manage import , export , tax and fulfilling other legal requirements . 8. SCREENSHOT:
Design Workflow Trade Profile (purchase Order) BOM Warehouse Management (Purchase Order) ERP Cluster Control

DESIGN WORK FLOW:

All ERP documents are inserted into one of more workflows. Workflows can be very simple (ex. single state) or quite complex (ex. 12 states, 10 roles) such as this one. New product design involves many different parties, from creation to design to marketing, production and sales. Everyone's role needs to be carefully taken into account in the information system workflow. Because ERP5 uses custom designed workflows which can be specific to each customer, ERP5 fits perfectly with highly optimized organizations.

TRADE PROFILE:
ERP provides full support of 5 roles trading model. Trade profiles must define: the location where goods are shipped, the owner of good, the responsible party for a trade decision, the administrative party and the payment party. Trade profiles can be defined on an order per order base of store in so-called "Trade Condition" template documents. With ERP5 trade profiles, consolidated group management or converting operations can be implemented easily.

BOM:
ERP5 provides complete BOM and operation lists, as well as the ability to create socalled "assortments". ERP5 BOM system provides full variation and inheritance support. Value of BOM lines (less fabric quantity) can be different for each possible variation of produced resource. For example, a swimsuit in size 34 (S) will require than a swimsuit in size 38 (M). The type/quantity of memory to produce a computer depends on the total quantity of memory required for the produced variation of a given model. Because some BOM lines can be identical accross different BOM documents, ERP5 provides an inheritance system which allows to create BOM templates and specialise templates in new BOMs. It saves time and increases consistency.

WAREHOUSE MANAGEMENT:
ERP5 provides multi-site multi-owner multi-variation analytical stock management. This screenshot shows the inventory of all variations fabric TI010. For each variation of TI010 and each warehouse site, an inventory value is provided now, in the distant future. An value of available inventory is calculated by substracting to the current inventory all inventory movements which have been planned, ordered or confirmed. Additionaly, a global view of inventory accross time is provided (each line represents a different variation). Inventory values can be analysed through a filter tree (left) which restricts the inventory calculation to a given warehouse (or sub-warehouse) or to a diven owner.

CLUSTER CONTROL:
ERP5 leverages both Zope ZEO clustering technology and MySQL replication technology to support large databases and demanding users. This screenshot shows a typical setup for a database of 1,800,000 warehouse movements in a production environment. A main server with dual CPU and 3GB of RAM (first line) provides database storage support (ZEO server and MySQL). A diskless dual CPU server with 2.5 GB RAM (second line) provides HTML rendering CPU power. An inexpensive diskless barebone system with 1GB RAM (third line) is used to process batch tasks. An other inexpensive diskless barebone system with 1GB RAM (fourth line) provides additional HTML rendering power. A third inexpensive barebone system provides a replicated MySQL service to accelerate reporting. Load curves show no exhaustion of power (flat curves would be bad...). More HTML rendering / processing power can be easily added for a typical hardware investment of 50 EUR / user.

CONCLUSION:
After Analyzing about ERP system Now we have some idea about ERP system that ERP performs core corporate activities and increases customer service and thereby augmenting the Corporate Image. ERP bridges the information gap across the organization, ERP eliminates the most of the business problems like Material shortages, Productivity enhancements, Customer service, Cash Management, Inventory problems, Quality problems, Prompt delivery etc. And ERP facilitates company-wide Integrated Information System covering all functional areas like Manufacturing, Selling and distribution, Payables, Receivables, Inventory, Accounts, Human resources, Purchases etc.,
