How to prevent future riots

To prevent such riots to occur again in the future, the causes needed to be tackled. The first step in achieving this was to discover what caused the riots. This was mostly split into two groups; the authoritarian ideologies and the liberal ideologies. Authoritarian view: this was the idea that individuals were responsible for their actions and should therefore take full responsibility for them Liberal view: this was the idea that an individual was shaped by the society and circumstances around them, therefore the sentences placed upon them should be considerate and light.

Authoritarian
Authoritarian policies for crime: the authoritarian view is mostly accepted by the conservatives and the far right of the labour party, whose policy are based on tough measures to ensure that the offence is not repeated again. It was after the riots that David Cameron turned to his authoritarian nature, announcing his zero tolerance of crime, stating in parliament that government were going to be tough on crime and tough on the causes of crime.

Liberal
The liberal policy is mostly accepted by the liberal democrats and the far left of the labour party who believe on giving second chances and light punishment as they disagree with Michael Howard that prison works They believe in community service as a punishment for the offenders as prison is often seen to make young offenders with more criminal habits due to the violent and offensive influence of fellow prisoners
