Modules &its description Abstract; The authors have developed a prototype research web application based on Java
technique to study the performance and to evaluate the technique used for developing the web application. The application is called as PReWebN Load and stress testing have been carried out on PReWebN using Mercury LoadRunner to study the performance, stability, scalability, reliability, efficiency and cost effectiveness of the technique. The performance depends on metrics such as hits/s, response time, throughput, errors/s and transaction summary. These metrics for the application are tested with different stress levels. The statistical testing on the recorded data has been carried out to study the stability and quality of the application. The present study reveals that the web application developed with Java technique is more stable, reliable, scalable and cost effective than its other counterpart such as Microsoft .NET technology.
