All policy matters relating to silicon facility, computer based information technology and processing including hardware software, standardization of procedures and matters relating to international bodies, promotion of knowledge based enterprises, internet, e-commerce/ e-governance and information technology education and development of electronics and coordination amongst its various users are also addressed by the Department. 2. DIT invites applications from interested / eligible candidates for filling up following posts in the Department on Direct Recruitment basis in the Pay Band-3 (Rs.1560039100/-):

Eligible and interested persons may submit their applications in the prescribed format (Annexure-II) on A4 size paper alongwith attested copies of certificates relating to qualifications, experience (if any), date of birth, claim that they belong to SC/ST/OBC community, appropriate authority regarding physical handicap (applies to physically handicapped persons only) and discharge from Defence Services (applies to ex-Defence personnel only) to Joint Director (Personnel), Department of Information Technology, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Electronics Niketan, 6, CGO Complex, New Delhi-110003 by 27.12.2010. Envelope should contain one application only. 3.1 10 days gap shall be given in respect of applications received from the candidates residing in Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, Ladakh Division of Jammu & Kashmir State, Lahaul and Spiti District and Pangi Sub Division of Chanba District of Himachal Pradesh, Adaman and Nicobar Islands and Lskshadweep. 3.2 The visually handicapped (BLV) candidates applying for the post of Scientist B must clearly write / mark the respective column in the format to determine their case and eligibility etc. Such candidates will not be allowed to use the services of their guide / scribe. The guide / scribe will be provided at the centre who will assist such candidates in writing their answer on their behalf, in case the visibility level is such that they cannot write on their own. 4. Applications which are not in conformity with the requirements indicated in the advertisement e.g. applications which are not in the prescribed format / size or are not accompanied by the attested copies and recent photographs may be rejected straightway. Mere fulfilling the requirements as laid down in the advertisement does not qualify a candidate for the written test / interview. No correspondence or personal enquiry will be entertained with the candidates not selected for written test / interview / appointment. Canvassing in any form will disqualify a candidate. 4.1 In case the response is more, candidates will be shortlisted. For short-listing of candidates, DIT reserves right to fix standards for calling of the eligible candidates for interview and / or written test. 4.2 The posts of Scientist C and Scientist D shall be filled up on the basis of interview only. 4.3 The post in the category of Scientist B shall be filled up on the basis of written examination and interview. The written examination will comprise objective type questions and will be of three-hour duration. The syllabus of written examination may be seen at the DIT website http://mit.gov.in/ . Those candidates qualifying in the written examination shall be called for interview. Final selection and ranking will be based on the performance of the candidates both in the written examination and in interview. The decision of DIT in this regard shall be final. 4.4 At the time of interview, candidates working in Central/State Government, Government establishment, public sector undertaking and autonomous bodies shall have to produce No Objection Certificate from their employers otherwise their candidature shall be cancelled. General Conditions 1. Candidates must be Indian citizens. 2. Candidates who have completed the required educational qualifications in all respects only need to apply. It is the responsibility of the candidate to ensure that he/she fulfills the eligibility criteria for the post applied for in terms of educational qualifications including percentage of marks, in the degree, experience etc. Mere calling for written examination / interview of a candidate does not entail him/her as fulfilling the conditions of eligibility as the same shall be checked / verified only before issuing an offer of appointment letter to the candidate recommended in the

panel of selected candidates and the recommendations of the Assessment Board/ Selection Committee are subject to verification of eligibility of the candidate in all respect. 3. In the event of information furnished by the candidates in the application or part therof being found false or detected incorrect at any stage before or after the written examination / interview or during the service period and / or that the candidate not satisfying the eligibility criteria prescribed above, his/her candidature / appointment is liable to be cancelled / terminated automatically without any notice to him/ her. 4. The marks obtained may be filled in equivalent percentage only and not grades or total marks obtained. Those who do not have clear 60% or above marks need not apply as 59.9 % will not be rounded to 60%. 5. Those who obtain marks in Grade may please provide the exact percentage of marks from the University / Institutes concerned. Documentary evidence may also be enclosed, otherwise their case will not be considered. 6. The eligibility of the candidates in terms of educational qualifications, experience, age etc. will be determined with reference to the facts provided as on the closing date for receipt of applications. 7. Candidates applying for the post of Scientist B should indicate clearly the option of language (English or Hindi) for written examination. In the absence of option, it will be considered as English. 8. The written examination for the posts of Scientist B will be conducted in New Delhi only. Those who qualify the written examination will be called for interview. As regards the posts of Scientist D and Scientist C, shortlisted candidates will be called for interview. The interview for the above posts will also be conducted in New Delhi only. The date, time and venue of written examination as well as interview for the above posts will be intimated to the concerned candidates separately in due course of time. 9. For the post of Scientist B, Admit Cards, indicating the Roll Number will be issued to the candidates who are admitted to the written examination. A separate notice will be issued about eligible candidates. Candidates who do not receive admit card may down load their admit card from the website http://mit.gov.in/ . If a candidate receives an Admit Card in respect of some other candidate on account of handling error, the same should be immediately returned to DIT with a request to issue correct Admit Card. Candidates may note that they will not be allowed to take written examination on the strength of an Admit Card issued in respect of another candidate. 10. SC/ST candidates called for written examination / interview will be paid Travelling Allowance as per Central Govt. Rules. 11. Candidates selected against the advertisement are liable to serve in any part of India and in any constituent units of / under the Department of Information Technology. 12. Appointment of selected candidates shall be subject to passing the prescribed medical test and satisfying other conditions/formalities prescribed by the Central Government prior to appointment. 13. The posts carry allowances as per Central Government Rules. 14. The appointment of selected candidates shall be temporary in nature, but likely to be continued. 15. Candidates selected for appointment will be on probation for one year. 16. The promotions of the Scientists shall be governed by the instructions contained in Department of Personnel and Trainings Office Memorandum No.AB-14017/37/2008Estt(RR) dated 10.09.2010 (http://www.persmin.nic.in/) as amended from time to time.

The upper age limit in respect of the Scientists already working on regular basis in the Department of Information Technology, the Ex-servicemen and other special categories of persons shall be relaxable in accordance with the orders issued by the Central Government, from time to time, in this regard. The controlling authority may relax the upper age limit for all categories of posts in case of highly experienced candidates in specialized scientific areas. The crucial date for determining the age limit shall be closing date for receipt of application from candidates (and not the closing date prescribed for those in Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizorum, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, Ladakh Division of Jammu and Kashmir State, Lahaul and Spiti District and Pangi Sub Division of Chamba District of Himachal Predesh, Andaman and Nicobar Island and Lakshdweep).
