What is an NSF Audit?

A typical NSF product certification audit consists of a thorough walkthrough of the production facility. The auditor evaluates the production facility against a pre-determined set of criteria or standard expectations determined by NSF standard.

FIVE SIMPLE STEPS

1 2 3 4 5

Review of Production Process, starting from incoming raw materials to packaging of finished product as referred in the URF Review of Quality Control online as well as finished products

Review of Records: purchase, production, shipment, quality control and training

Review of Marking and use of the NSF Mark

Verification of URF (Unauthorized Registered Formulation)

The total length of audit depends on the size of your facility, the number of products to be audited and the NSF Standard. On average, it takes three to four hours. At the end of the audit, the NSF representative will provide you with a full report of the inspection. The audit report is also automatically sent by e-mail to the designated contact of the company. Your auditor or project manager will work with you should any corrective actions be required. After your company successfully achieves NSF Certification, your production or assembly location will receive annual monitoring inspections from an NSF auditor.
