The Mobile District Corps of Engineers is currently in need of a Freshman or Sophomore Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering Student to work as a Student Aide in our Mobile District Office located at 109 St. Joseph Street, Mobile Alabama. Duties include assisting Design Engineers assemble and mail design submittal packages, and to assist Clerical Staff in miscellaneous paperwork. Work hours are somewhat flexible, however, the successful candidate would be expected to work approximately 20 hrs per week, Monday thru Friday. Starting Salary is $9.74/hr. Experience using MS Word and Excel is required. Experience with MS Powerpoint and Access, Sharepoint, and AutoCADD is desirable. Applicants should possess good communications skills in both technical writing and oral presentations, and work well with others in an office environment. The Mobile District is responsible for the Planning, Design, Construction, and Operation of both Military and Civil Works projects located in Alabama; Florida; and parts of Tennessee, Georgia, and Mississippi. The types of projects are quite diverse, and involve both vertical and horizontal construction. Examples of Military projects include Operations Facilities, Multi-Story Administrative Facilities, Aircraft Control Towers, Aircraft Maintenance Hangars, Aircraft and Ground Vehicle Fueling Facilities, Dining Facilities, Barracks/Dorms/Family Housing, Fitness Centers, Hospitals, Medical/Dental Clinics, Fire Stations; basically any type facility that you might find on an Air Force Base or Army Installation. Civil Works projects include hydropower plants, lock & dams, flood control structures, and recreation facilities.
