Macbook Cover Recreation The worlds favorite sport is soccer. The soccer ball is unique to every person that is involved with the sport. A ball is made out of plastic or leather. It is tied together by string and put together by hand. Something so simple has so many different meanings for people. A recreation of a soccer is very common, a soccer ball as stickers, necklaces, earrings, tee shirts ect A soccer ball macbook cover has been recreated, but not in three-dimensional. Half of the soccer ball will be sticking upward, or coming out of the cover. Also a macbook has never been made out a Nike shoebox before either. The combination of these two items is awesome. The three dimensional part is a unique idea. Who would ever come up with a 3D laptop cover? The ball sticks out 0.5 inches off of the cover. Looks great and would sell immensely in stores. Macbooks are the newest and most popular computers of todays society. Everyone wants a macbook laptop or mac computer. Their are so many different attires for them like; covers, screen protectors, keyboard protectors ect Combining a soccer ball with a macbook is a brilliant idea, because two of the most liked things by humans combined would sell greatly in stores. The Nike Seitiro ball is the newest ball out in the market at the moment. It sponsors some of the greatest soccer leagues in the world. It had been used as an example for many different displays, but for the recreation a World Cup soccer ball was used, because it fits the idea perfectly. The ball is called Teamgeist, (German) which means Team Spirit in English. It was used in the 2006 World Cup. Its

design is unique, 6 peanut like shapes that outline the white ball in black and gold. In the final of the World Cup, FIFA made a special edition of the ball, which was all white with the peanut shape in all gold. Colors and materials are used for a lot of things. People do not like to mix up traditional colors, for example; No one wants to make the sky green, or make the ocean yellow. Although for this recreation, different color schemes are important. The World Cup ball is lime green, the out line is black with red for detail and yellow to give it more brightness. The half ball was created by paper, 3 pieces of paper were crumbled together, then stuck onto the cover with tape. As the ball was sturdy on there another layer of paper got glued onto it. Anything could get fixed with glue or tape with this project; the simplest errors could get fixed. Finally when the glue was dry, a round of clear tape got put on top of it all. The tape helps the color stick out more, it gives them more of a glare or more shiny. The shininess makes the ball look better, it sticks out more, and the whole point of the ball is to literally stick out. Both in they way it looks and also in the way it is positioned. Also another thing it did was cover up the edges of the paper that were sticking out. Those little pieces are annoying to have because they mess up the product by looking sloppy and not presentable. After fixing all the tiny errors, the last thing to do with the soccer ball was to color it. As the coloring was going on, new errors had been discovered, but not all of them matter. Some are more noticeable than others. First the out lines were drawn with all black sharpie, and then on the inside of the peanut shapes, red was outlined around the black. Waiting for everything to dry off, many ideas came to mind. Instead of just making a boring clear case with a soccer ball on it, the great idea was to make a soccer field around the ball. It is made out of grass and the lines for soccer. A picture of grass was chosen, and then the lines were colored on there with black sharpie. On the field there is a center circle, two18-yard boxes, two 6-

yard boxes, two throw in lines, two goal kick lines, two penalty kick dots, four corner kick quarter circles and 2 semi circles on top of each 18- yard. The original color for the out line of the field is white, but black sticks out more and works more effectively with all of the colors on the ball. The grass on the cover is dark as well; it only made sense to color it black because it looks better. The main reason why the lines could not be colored white, was because there is no such thing as a white sharpie. Also whiteout would have looked bad on the product, because it would have been hard to tell the difference between the paper which was glued onto the Nike box and the actual soccer field outline. Lime green is a light and happy color. It was chosen to be the balls main color because it is my favorite color. Red is the most important color, though because it was chosen for a specific reason. The United States, Switzerland, Cuba, and Italy all have the color red in them, and my heritage all comes from these countries. The US flag has the blue, with white stars and red stripes. Switzerland has a all red flag with a white cross in the center of it. Italy has green, white, and red rectangles. Finally the Cuban flag has a red triangle with a white star in the middle of triangle, also with blue stripes. Red and lime green correlate perfectly together as well, thats another reason why I chose both of those colors. Yellow brings the funky style to the ball. It is a very flashy color and it sticks out greatly. Although the soccer ball has been customized and made very colorful, normally they are not like that. Most soccer balls have an original look, for example: White and black or reverse, black and white. Some of the more flashy balls or so called different, are the balls coming out now in this era of soccer. This time period is into style and cool things. Nike, Adidas, Puma and all the huge soccer companies come out with different styles every year or even month. The younger soccer players like the new stuff, but the

older players like the traditional soccer look, the original look. The reason for this explanation is to prove that it is true that the younger society likes flashy colors, unlike the old black and white look. I chose the colors for a reason, which was explained previously, but also I like the colors because they are flashy and cool. Original macbooks are made out of plastic, metals, glass and rubber. Apple is the company or corporation that produces them. The recreated macbook is made out of a Nike shoebox. The box is covered by white paper. The keyboard was sketched out with pencil, but afterwards it was traced over by a black sharpie. The screen is a printed picture of the actual macbook screen. Everything correlates perfectly together, the white macbook with the soccer ball cover. In the process of the recreation there were few difficulties, once in a while the glue or tape would run out. This problem was easily fixed by getting new glue and tape. The biggest problem was how the semi circular ball was going to be made. There were many different possibilities, but not necessarily easy. Help was not needed to fulfill the recreation, but advice or guidance was. Different people give different advice or ideas, and combining them together is a lot of fun. Experimenting around and trying out new things is exciting. A lot of time was consumed in making this shoebox into a computer. It was easy, yet time consuming. Approximately 3 or 4 hours was put in to create everything. Coloring, building, designing and editing is all-inclusive. What took so long were the fine details, a lot of the parts needed another layer of tape on it. The longest by far was waiting for the glue to dry. This project was fun to work on. It brought many ideas together and it required the brain to work. The most exciting part of it all is demonstrating the end product. Everyone can see what has been created and how much effort was put into it. Certain humans have different precipitation and views. Things as simple as a

soccer ball or laptop can mean a lot of things to one person, but nothing to another. Humans that are less fortunate that have nothing to their name dont even know what a macbook is. That means that it means nothing to them. To macbook users it means something completely different. Its personal laptop, its customized and can have a lot of personal stuff on it like: pictures, documents, homework, important work meetings, ect It is one thing that the soccer ball and macbooks have in common, there both personal and can be customized as desired. To conclude the recreation of the soccer ball into a macbook cover, all there is to say is that I had a lot of fun with it. Experimenting around with the different tools and materials was fun. The essay part was not as much fun, but still productive, the paper came out great. The wording is better than I though I could write. I accomplished a lot in the project, that is the bottom line.
