$teering Pump
Steering pump (5) is mounted on the upper leIt oI the engine Ilywheel housing. The steering pump is an axial piston pump with overcenter capability. The output direction and Ilow oI the steering pump is controlled by the pump control valve. $teering Charge Pump
(5) Steering Pump (6) Steering Charge Pump Steering charge pump (6) is located on the rear oI steering pump (5), which is mounted on the upper leIt oI the engine Ilywheel housing. The steering charge pump is a positive displacement type pump. This pump provides charge oil Ior the steering hydraulic circuit.

$teering Controls
(1) Steering Control Lever Steering control lever (1) is located on the leIt console in the cab. Push the steering control lever away Irom the operator Ior STEER LEFT. Pull the steering control lever toward the operator Ior STEER RIGHT. The position sensors in the steering control lever send a signal to the power train ECM. The power train ECM controls the response oI the steering hydraulic system. $teering Motor
The Front oI the transmission case near the center oI the machine. (7) Steering Motor Steering motor (7) is located on the steering diIIerential, as shown. This motor is a Iixed displacement bent axis motor which can turn in either direction. The direction oI rotation is determined by the input Ilow to the motor Irom the steering pump. The output shaIt oI the steering motor turns the steering diIIerential, which causes the machine to turn.
6
Power Train Electronic Control $ystem ($teering and Brakes)
The steering electronic control system transIers power to the steering diIIerential by controlling the leIt solenoid and the right solenoid Ior the steering pump. The steering control lever sends an electrical signal to power train ECM (43). The power train ECM sends an electrical signal to the appropriate solenoid on the steering pump control valve. The steering pump control valve shiIts and and the steering pump control sends charge pressure to the actuator piston. The actuator piston moves the overcenter pump to the desired displacement and to the steering pump direction oI Ilow. The actuator piston movement is proportional to the signal Irom the steering control lever (51). The steering motor converts the oil Ilow Irom the steering pump into rotary motion that turns the steering diIIerential. The speed and direction oI the motor controls the rate oI the turn and the direction oI the turn by the machine. 7
The steering pump can produce Ilow in either direction. The amount oI Ilow and the direction oI Ilow determine the rotation oI steering motor.
