TYPES OF CONFLICTS
There are two (3) types oI conIlicts
1. DysIunctional ConIlict
2. Functional or Creative ConIlict
3. Armed ConIlict

6.1 DysIunctional ConIlict:
This is reIlected in its characteristics. It involves destruction and loss oI lives,
properties, investment opportunities, hunger and starvation, diseases, insecurity,
lack oI legitimate law and order and when it leads to violence, wars, mass strike,
massacres and other Iorms oI disruption Iollows

6.2 Functional/Creative ConIlict:


This is a constructive way oI expressing conIlict. It reIlects the diIIerences and variety oI
human opinion and activity which exists in any Iree society. Where creative or Iunctional
conIlict, which is a major source oI innovations, new ideas, institutions and social change are
suppressed altogether, a nation becomes stagnant and static.
6.3 Armed ConIlict:
When a conIlict turn into open combat with at least 25 battles related deaths per year, then it
is described as armed conIlict. This is common between governments (inter state) oI between
governments and armed groups within the states or between opposed armed groups (intra-
state).
