he organizers together conducted successfully the symposiums at Hyderabad in 2003 & 2005, at New Delhi in 2008 & at Mumbai in 2010. The Concurrent events, the Welding & Cutting show and the International Welding Symposium are very well received by the industry. In the last 2010 edition, more than 270 countries from 22 countries participated. Over 6100 visitors from 29 Countries attended the exhibition more than 100 technical peoples were presented in the Symposium which as attended by more than 400 delegates from all over the globe. This 2012 event will usher new opportunities for industry which seeks a positive growth than many countries in the world. India also remained on a course of strong growth in the 2010/11 financial year (31 March 1 April). The gross domestic product rose by 8.6%. Of the major economies in the world, India therefore expanded the most after China. Analysts are expecting a GDP between 7.5 and 8% as well as foreign investments worth billions for 2011/12. The rapid growth of the Indian economy is reflected in a host of projects, above all in the transport infrastructure and in the expansion of the power supply and tele communications network. Machine and plant construction is benefiting from lively investment activity in the chemicals branch, the steel industry and in the building materials sector. India remains a highly attractive market for suppliers of joining, cutting and surfacing technology. More advanced materials have been developed to meet the demanding requirements of the industries. Lot of interests is seen on super alloys developments for the space and aviation industries. Super martensitic stainless steels are finding applications in oil and gas projects for the line pipes. More advanced ferritic- martensitic Chromium Molybedenum steels and Nickel based materials and alloys are the candidate materials for the super critical and ultra super critical boilers in power sector. The technology of fabrication calls for different degree of controls in the manufacturing processes. Welding of the new generation material will be a challenge for the welding technologists. At the same time, this also open up broader avenues in process development, consumable development and welding equipments technology with new features and facilities for the enhanced productivity of the industry. The cycle time of projects needed is shrinking day by day, since today's customers are not willing to accept the longer lead time. This makes the technologists, manufacturers, suppliers, erection / installation groups, O&M personnel to look for more productive methods in materials joining. The seminar on the theme Vision for Welding & Fabrication Industry will unfold the new technologies in the materials development, welding front and material characterisation.
ndian Welding Society is a premier professional body, devoted to the cause of welding in the country. The society is committed to promote advancement in welding, cutting and reclamation, hard facing & related technologies and in providing a forum for professional exchange of information, experience and developments in the field. With its headquarters at New Delhi, the capital city of India, the society has a federal structure consisting of 15 centres in the North, East, West, South and Central Zones of India. Since its inception, IWS is pursuing the knowledge dissemination goal on a continual basis. It is organising national / international workshops, seminars, training programmes, lectures, technical talks, etc. through its centres, zones and headquarters throughout the year. The technical activities of the society make it very vibrant. Over 3600 members in its fold including 1000 life members. he German Welding Society, popularly known as DVS (Deutscher verband Fr Schweien) based in Dsseldorf, Germany is a technical-scientific non-profit making society aims to promote welding and allied processes for the benefit of its members and the general public. It sets standards for research and development, training and re-training, examination, certification, quality assurance, advice and assessment, technology transfer, standardisation, occupational health and safety, environmental protection and conservation of resourses. DVS periodically organises conferences, colloquia, seminars and lecture events. DVS is the ideal sponsor of the International Essen Welding Fair as well as other worldwide fair events. DVS ensures practice-oriented cooperative research via its Welding Research Association and carries out research and development work. DVS publishes DVS-Verlag journals, specialist books, research
The main objective of AWF shall be: (I)Standardisation of welding skill and qualification. (II)Developing a formal structure to promote and guide AWF members towards a common welding standard. (III)Defining common guidelines for the education, training, qualification and certification of personnel in welding and its related technologies. (IV)Serving as a common and united front in international welding affairs and standardization in welding practices. Thereby increasing the strength of Asia in such affairs. (V)Upgrading technology in developing countries to have better living standard.
