ANTS!

Did you know that some ants can make themselves explode if theyre losing in battle? Keep reading to find out this and other interesting facts about ants. The lifecycle of an ant has 4 stages: 1. egg, 2. larva, 3. pupa, and 4. adult. The lifespan of an ant is 45-60 days. There are more than a thousand trillion ants on the planet! Theyve been on earth for more than 100,000,000 years! Ants eat about anything humans eat. They also sometimes eat each other. They also love sugary substances. If you put together 40,000 ant brains, it would equal one human brain. If we had the body strength of an ant, we could pick up a car. The way an ant can lift so much weight is the exoskeleton. The exoskeleton is like armor. It covers the outside of their body and supports the weight. The ant has two stomachs, one to hold food for the ant and the other to share food with other ants. Ants are insects and have six legs, an abdomen head and thorax. Ants use their antennae for smell and touch. The ants enemies are the frog, ants, the human foot, the anteater, heavy rain and bug spray.

Ants live in logs, dead trees, plant stems, under rocks, under ground and in live trees. Ants live in colonies. The leader of the colony is the queen. The queen lays eggs and the worker ants look after them. Because I like ants so much, I bought an ant farm so I could watch them dig tunnels. The ants I bought were Harvester ants. The ant farm is made out of gel and is enclosed in plastic. The gel is the ants food and water source. There are many more interesting facts about ants, but these were my favorites! Ants are cool, but I wouldnt bring them to a picnic!
