SUMMARY Based on our laboratoratory testing of galvanic materials for quality control based on recommended practice DNV-RP-B401 (2005), only sample13 & 14 complies with the standard which the value of electrochemical capacity is exceeded the minimum requirement of 2500 Ah/kg and the closed circuit potential is below -1.05V at the end of modified testing period (2 days). This testing is conducted principally by measuring weight loss of aluminium anodes to obtain electrochemical efficiency and measuring the close potential of anodes. These two parameters are obtained by current setting in daily basis.

Calculation Procedure and Examples

Electrochemical Efficiency of Anodes e = Electrochemical Efficiency (Ampere.hours/kg) C = Total current charge from Coulometer (Ampere.hours) Dw = average aluminium weight loss (grams)

e
Example Dw = C= e=

C * 1000 Dw

0.1371 grams 0.3607 Ampere.hours 2630.57 (Ampere.hours/kg)

Efficiency of Anodes Anode efficiency (%) = Electrochemical Efficiency of Tested Anode (Ampere.hours/kg) 2980 Ampere.hours/kg (Electrochemical Efficiency of Pure Anode) 2630.57 Ampere.hours/kg 88.27 % *100%

Example Electrochemical Efficiency of Tested Anode = Anode Efficiency =
