Critical Analysis of the Sectoral Brief of Spinning

In this critical analysis we are going to point out the things that were left out and not included. Also we are going to identify the flaws that are present in the current sectoral brief. These are the topics already covered in the current sectoral brief, production utilization, Pakistans position in Global Yarn Market and Blended Yarns and its scope in the international market.

Flaws in this Brief:

First of all, the data is of 90s, which hinders its authenticity, and it has not been revised since. Out dated statistics means production capacity, local market trends etc have all changed, thus rendering this brief useless for current purposes. International trends have changed, meaning that number of exports and imports have changed, and demand of cotton yarn & and Man Made Fiber (MMF) has changed. Spinning Process is not elaborated and what technology is being used to produce it. Blended Yarn and its types are not elaborated, and how they are produced. Man Made Fibers (MMF) are not properly explained. Quality types of Cotton yarn i.e. coarse, medium & fine are not properly explained and how they diferentiate from each other.

Things those were not included in this Brief:

Energy Crisis and how it has affected the spinning industry. Requirement of Balancing, Modernizing and Rehabilitation (BMR). Role of Government and how it has helped or ignored the persistent condition of the spinning industry.

Balance of Trade with other countries. Whether Pakistan is exporting at its full potential or not. Total production of local cotton, and how much the spinning is taking in. Technology and how it has affected the spinning industry. Effects and causes of losing market share in global market in the period 1993-97.
