Charactor analysis Monsters inc!

The character I have chosen to analyse is the young child Boo. I have decided to analyse her because she is to me a very interesting character and I can really relate to her experience with the monsters and the dark because as a child I was also very scared of the dark and monsters. Boo is an interesting character to analyse because throughout the story she is exposed to many different experiences both good and bad which inevitably lead to her overcoming her fears of the dark and actually befriending one of the main protagonists of the film who is actually a monster.

Monsters inc as a film actually touches on a very important issue for children and that is the issue of monsters and the dark. At the beginning of the film Boo is really scared of the dark and Sully. the first experience that Boo has with Sully is terrifying and the thought of the two becoming friends is unthinkable however the story and the character of Boo demonstrates how even though the two are from two different worlds and are petrified of each other they do find a common to each other and they ultimately learn to overcome their fears of each other.

As a character Boo is scared of Sully and all monsters for that matter but interestingly Sully is really scared of Boo for me it highlights the fear of the unknown xenophobia. Sully and Mickey help Boo to overcome her fears of monsters and the dark and Boo also helps them to overcome the obstacles in their lives as well. At the end of the film there is a brilliant scene where Randolph the evil monster who is the arch enemy of sully and Mickey. Randolph is trying to kick sully off a ledge to his demise but Boo overcomes her fears once again and attacks Randolph which saves Sully. This act is the ultimate liberating act and Boo has fully overcome her fears of the dark and monsters.
