InterAction Dues Policy

Edited: January 6, 2011 InterAction's membership dues are calculated at .15% of assessable expenses with minimum dues of $2,000 and maximum dues of $46,000 in 2012. Excluded from the dues base are: 1. commodities in-kind and ocean freight; 2. domestic programs (not overhead) that have no relationship to international activities, programs or issues; 3. pass-through expenditures, defined as: "an amount of money that is either granted or sub-granted, over which the member has little control with respect to the beneficiaries to whom it is given; the amount and when it will be spent; and for which the agency receives no administrative fee or indirect cost rate." (Management and general expenses allocable to such grants are not excludable.); 4. sub-grants made to an InterAction member. To avoid double counting grants for dues assessment purposes, only the subgrant recipient includes these funds in the dues base; and, 5. activities ordinarily conducted by an accredited degree-granting educational institution. An example of calculated dues: The organization HelpUS has annual expenses of $10,000,000, but has in-kind expenses of $450,000 and a domestic program with expenses of $975,000. Therefore, HelpUS would pay annual dues of $12,863 for membership in InterAction. Those members that are near or at InterActions ceiling have international expense budgets ranging from $20 million to over a billion. Because this is a wide range of financial position a stepped schedule for dues near our maximum levels has been adopted. Below, please find dues for members falling within this band structure. Dues Deadline: All InterAction members are required to pay their dues in-full to InterAction within 30 days of invoice receipt.
