Over the years, five companies run the vast majority of Hong Kong buses. Citybus limited is one of the franchised bus operators on Hong Kong Island. It operates 112 bus routes, including 64 Hong Kong Island routes, 30 cross-harbor routes, and 18 routes to Tung Chung/Airport. The company had 919 licensed buses, which carried about 577,000 passengers a day. The New World First Bus Services limited operates 53 Hong Kong Island routes, 8 Kowloon and Tseung Kwan O routes and 33 cross-harbor routes. In 2007, the Company had 694 licensed buses, which carried 505,000 passengers a day. Long Win Bus Company Limited provides franchised bus services to north Lantau and the Airport. It operates 18 routes with a fleet of 155 air-conditioned buses. The average daily patronage is about 76,000 passengers in 2007. New Lantao Bus Company (1973) Limited operates deep green and white bus on Lantau Island. As at 31 December 2007, the fleet comprises 94 single-deck buses and carries an average of 44,000 passengers daily.
