Alternative fuels BIOFUELS: the use of plants and other biomass to create fuels such as ethanol

Pros Cons Not easy to access Lack of ethanol fuels at fuelling stations Not enough crops and farms around the world to produce cash crops Might take more energy to grow the crops than the energy released by the biofules Reduces amount of food grown Expensive to produce Produces less carbon monoxide and dioxide overall (because gases produced are obsorbe in photosynthesis of the plant being grown) Biofuel acts as a better lubricant than normal fuel, so the engine s worklife is lengthened More complete combustion- becasus ebiofuels are easier to ignite than petrol Less particles when burnt, fewer healath risks (e.g respiratory problems) Easy to use Renewable

HYDROGEN CELLS:
Pros Cons Produces much less energy than petrol/gas Difficulty setting up into each car Quite expensive to set up and impelemnt Uses water, as this is the most abundant resource there is, it won t run out for a few thousand yrs Environmentally friendly- byproduct (hgydrgen) mixed wiuth theair produces water again Easy to make even at home Effiecient Produces no odour/noise

ELECTRIC CARS:
Pros Fuel is cheap Maintainance is less frequent- engine runs for longer

Environementally friendly

Cons Can only ravel; for a very shrot distance before the car needs to e charged again Not very many used cars Quite expensive ib comparison to a normal petrol powered car of the same range Not many public car charging stations Battery uncertainity Safety isn t c=guaranteed
