PROJECT REPORT MODEL TRAFFIC LIGHT

GROUP MEMBER: y SANA AKHTAR y ANAUM RIAZ BEE-1A 123 115

INSTRUCTOR: DR. HAMMAD CHEEMA

INTRODUCTION:
It is a four way traffic model. We have designed the main control circuit which control the traffic signal of the four way traffic system. The wires from the main circuit goes to signal pole of each road.

COMPONENTS:
y y y y y y y 12 V power supply LEDs Switches Capacitors Resistors Programmable Timer IC And many others...

WORKING PROCEDURE:
First we design the rectification circuit.

Above is the simulation for rectification. The circuit rectifies the AC input to DC output. The transformer steps down the 220 V to 12V.

The regulator used is 5V voltage regulator so the output is 5V which is then fed to IC. The IC used is programmable PIC16f877. It then control the whole circuit. We can change the time for glowing period of LEDs. The IC is also used to do the functions like u can hold the system at a point for as long as u want by pressing the hold button. We can use flash system in which only

yellow lights for all roads are on. It is mostly used when there is not much traffic. We can also change the time for green lights for any road independent of other green lights.

TASK DIVISION:
We divided the work. Anaum made the project proposal and the poster. I made the report and got the components. We patched the circuit together.

CHALLENGES :
Since we hadn t get the circuit from any source. We integrated the different circuits according to our requirement. Initially circuits were working individually and in integrated form they weren t. Then we bring other changes and most of the work is made simplier by the use of IC. Next while soldiering the circuit on the vero board we had to face the problem of short circuiting.

This the circuit for one road which we made initially for checking and then integrated it for other three roads. We were doing the soldiering of our own then we take help from seniors. Mostly problem were faced during soldiering.
