Solve all examples, exercises and end-of-chapter problems of Chapter 1 and upto problem 2.23 of Ulaby. Submit the solution of the following problem set only. Problem Set 1. Write the expression for the prole of a sinusoidal wave traveling in az direction whose amplitude at z = /2 is 0.866, at z = /6 is 0.5, and at z = /4 is 0. 2. Solve the following equation and plot solutions in the complex plane. z 5 = 4 + j9 3. The frequency of a light wave propagating in vacuum is 6 1014 Hz. (a) What is the shortest distance between any two points along the wave that have a phase dierence of /6 radians? (b) What phase shift occurs at a given point in 1 s, and how many waves have passed by in that time? 4. Derive epxressions for and of a transmission line in terms of R , L , G and C . 5. Problem 2.4 of Ulaby. 6. Problem 2.6 of Ulaby.
