A. 1Mm FeSO4 Preparation. 1. Weigh amount of FeSO4. Dissolve in 1liter v-flask.dilute to mark. B. 1. Fifteen micro liter of black liquor will be added to 5mL of an aqueous solution of FeSO4 (1mM). 2. With the solution stirring at room temperature, 570 micro liter of H2O2 (for final concentrations: 10 and 20 mM) were added over 1 min. 3. The tubes were capped and the reaction mixture was under continuous agitation for 20 min at room temperature (approx. 23-25C). See procedure (IV). **Note: that all the solutions containing black liquor were alkaline (approx. pH 10.8). This condition is created by the high alkalinity of the employed black liquor. 4. All samples were covered with foil and conserved under refrigeration until their analysis. See procedures (V) and (VI). 5. The samples should again be subjected for analysis to determine the pH, organic content in terms of COD, and the solid content both the aromatic and lignin content which will be determined as the total suspended solids or TSS. 6. Computation. A. Sugar Mill Wastewater 1. Note the COD and color levels. 2.
