FAMILY PLANNING
I conducted a brief preliminary survey on family planning in Gujrat and Mandi Bhawal din.I interviewed the medical staff at Gujrat District Hospital. Through this survey, I gained deeper insights into the delicate decision-making process of family planning both in conjugal homes and client interactions with medical staff. The choice of a particular family planning method is largely influenced by peoples traditional cultural values concerning gender relationship. As will be discussed below, Gujrat men are universally negative or even antagonistic towards the family planning method. This particular attitude apparently derives from Gujrat ideas. They view a castration of bulls and male procreative power, and the cultural ideal of a large polygamist household with as many children as possible. In recent years, the number of polygamist husbands has been remarkably decreased. However, the idea of Gujrat manhood is as yet maintained intact among Gujrat men, affecting their attitude towards family plan.
